An undetermined chemical that sent several Valencia workers to the hospital no longer posed a threat, officials announced Tuesday.

Four people were in critical condition after being exposed to a powder chemical at an aerospace parts manufacturing company late Monday, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Four others were also hospitalized, but the extent of their injuries were unknown, the agency said.

Paramedics examined a total of 31 people, including 23 who declined to be taken to the hospital, according to the Fire Department.

The agency said it received an alert at 10:50 p.m. about employees being exposed to some sort of chemical at a two-story building where TA Aerospace was located.

Workers complained of respiratory issues due to chemicals that were being mixed, the Fire Department tweeted earlier.

A hazmat team responded to the scene.
