Homicide detectives were investigating the “suspicious” death of a man who was originally found lying unconscious in the street in front of his Lake Los Angeles home, authorities said on Wednesday.
Deputies discovered the 85-year-old man when they responded to a residence in the 41300 block of 151st East around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday after receiving a “family disturbance” call, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The victim was unconscious and unresponsive on the street in front of his house at the time, sheriff’s officials said. Deputies performed CPR on the man until paramedics got to the scene.
Despite the paramedics attempting life-saving measures on the victim, he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.
A cause of death was not immediately known, but a preliminary examination revealed the victim possibly suffered some kind of blunt force trauma to the head, officials said in the release.
Witnesses told detectives that the elderly man and his 38-year-old son were arguing earlier, but it was not clear how the victim was injured.
No arrests have been made in the case.
As the investigation into the man’s death continued, sheriff’s officials were asking anyone with information to call the department’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Anonymous tips can also be left by contacting Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
