A 29-year-old actor best known for playing a hip-hop hamster in Kia car commercials pleaded no contest to insurance fraud, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced Friday.

Leroy Barnes entered his no contest plea Tuesday to one count each of insurance fraud and false statements regarding aid, a news release from the DA’s office stated.

Barnes was immediately sentenced to 90 days of electronic monitoring, ordered to perform 400 hours of community service and pay more than $24,000 in restitution, the release stated.

Barnes defrauded the state by receiving disability benefits between September 2010 and September 2011 while working on the Kia commercials, prosecutors said.
