A 26-year-old woman was charged with capital murder Tuesday for alleging beating her boyfriend’s mother to death with a baseball bat.

Cecelia Bonnie Sharkey, identified by the Los Angeles Times as the daughter of actor Ray Sharkey, faced one count of murder with a special circumstance allegation of lying in wait, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office stated in a news release.

Cecelia Sharkey was accused of killing 54-year-old Patricia Metropoulos outside her Reseda home on Sept. 19, prosecutors said.

If convicted as charged, Cecelia Sharkey faces the death penalty or life in prison without the possibility of parole, the release stated.

A decision on whether to seek the death penalty will be made at a later date, according to the DA’s office.

Cecelia Sharkey was being held without bail and was due back in court on Oct. 5.

Ray Sharkey, best known for his role as Sonny Steelgrave in the TV series “Wiseguy,” died due to complications from AIDS in 1993, the newspaper reported.
