Most of the northbound 5 Freeway was blocked in the Sylmar area for about three hours Monday after a big rig and several other vehicles were involved in a crash.

The call came in to the California Highway Patrol about 12:45 p.m., according to CHP Officer Tony Polizzi.

A big-rig was on its side and the northbound 5 Freeway was blocked until further notice, he said. Several other vehicles were involved.

At about 1:30 p.m., the No. 4 lane was getting by but all other lanes were still closed, the CHP’s Southern Division said on Twitter. By 3:40 p.m., all lanes had reopened, CHP later tweeted.

The collision was in northbound lanes just south of the 210 Freeway and just north of Roxford Street (map), according to the CHP’s online incident log.

A SigAlert was issued shortly before 1 p.m.

The condition of the drivers involved was not immediately known.
