Anaheim police on Wednesday were investigating what they believe to be two gang-related killings that occurred in the city just 12 hours apart.

Officers first responded to a report of shots fired at East Park Lane and North Lawrence Avenue around 9 p.m. Tuesday. They found 23-year-old Jose Allan Martinez with at least one gunshot wound, according to the Police Department.

Authorities said they tried to save his life before paramedics arrived, but the victim was eventually pronounced dead at the scene.

At 9 a.m. the next day, police received a call about a dead body outside in the 400 block of South Kroeger Street — about 3 miles away from Tuesday night’s shooting.

The victim was later identified as Charlie Uriostegui, a 24-year-old Anaheim resident.

Sgt. Jeff Munday said Uriostegui suffered “obvious trauma,” and that the detectives were treating the case as a murder. He was shot at least once, according to the Police Department.

Investigators determined Uriostegui had been shot in the west alley around 2:30 a.m.

The death similarly appeared to be gang-related, Munday told KTLA.

No arrests have been made in either case, police said.

Officials urged anyone with information to call 714-765-1900 or contact Crime Stoppers at 855-847-6227 or visit occrimestoppers.org.
