An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an alleged attack on a teenage girl and her boyfriend in Venice Beach, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed Monday.
Charles Rayner was taken into custody on Saturday, LAPD Officer Sara Faden said.
The alleged attack occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday as Brooklyn Smith, 16, and her boyfriend Toyon Carlson were walking back to their vehicle.
Smith told KTLA, two males asked the couple where they were from.
“Before we could even say anything, it was like ‘Oh, that’s her, that’s her,'” Smith said.
The two males had apparently recognized her from a confrontation last month in which she was told at the time not to come back to the area, Smith said.
After that, dozens of skateboarders “came out of nowhere” and started attacking them, she told KTLA.
Rayner was being held on $30,000 bail, Faden said.
He was scheduled to appear in court on April 23.
No other arrests had been made.
