Authorities were warning people in the Isla Vista area near UC Santa Barbara late Friday to stay inside as they investigate drive-by shootings that left three people dead and several injured.
Two people have been arrested in connection with the shootings, which broke out about 9:30 p.m., sheriff’s spokeswoman Kelly Hoover told KEYT-TV.
“We can’t confirm this is a secure location,” Hoover said. “If you’re in Isla Vista, please shelter in place. If you’re thinking about coming here, please do not.”
Several local news outlets reported that the shootings occurred near two local convenience stores and that there were several crime scenes.
