A driver initially wanted for speeding on the 605 Freeway led authorities around residential streets in the El Monte area on Tuesday night before surrendering.

Aerial video from Sky5 showed the driver going in circles through various neighborhoods in El Monte and South El Monte.

Groups of people could be seen standing on street corners watching the chase.

At one point, officers threw out a spike strip, which appeared to damage the car's two front tires.

The car could be seen moving much slower after that, at times barely crawling down neighborhood streets.

The driver then drove into a mobile home park near the San Gabriel River where he was boxed in by officers, aerial video showed.

Armed officers surrounded the car and the driver could be seen holding his arms out of the driver-side window.

He eventually exited the car and was taken into custody.
