An investigation was underway Tuesday in Long Beach after a man’s body was found inside a burning motor home, authorities said.
Officers saw smoke coming from the vehicle during a routine patrol around 12:15 a.m., according to the Long Beach Police Department.
They grabbed a fire extinguisher from their cruiser and extinguished the flames.
The motor home had been parked behind a business in the 500 block of West 17th Street (map), police said.
The victim’s name and age were not yet known, police said.
An uninjured dog was found nearby and handed over to animal control officers.
Video from the scene showed arson investigators from the Long Beach Fire Department searching for clues.
Investigators said the blaze was “suspicious in nature” and the man’s death was being called a homicide.
