Body of Man Who Disappeared Under ‘Suspicious Circumstances’ Found in L.A. River in Long Beach

The body of a 23-year-old man who disappeared last week under what authorities described as suspicious circumstances was found in the Los Angeles River Monday.

Police discovered the body in the area of the river located near Pacific Coast Highway (map) at about 7:15 a.m., according to a news release from the Long Beach Police Department.

Los Angeles coroner’s officials identified the man as Greg Ariola Almodovar, who was reported missing on Wednesday.

His cause of death was undetermined, according to the news release.

Almodovar had last been seen in Long Beach at about 9 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Police Department.

He had been suffering from depression, but detectives said he hadn’t made any statements to lead them to believe he would harm himself.

Detectives also stated the circumstances of Almodovar’s disappearance were unknown but suspicious.

Almodovar’s vehicle was located in the area of Willow Street and the 710 Freeway (map) Thursday.
