A proposed state Assembly bill aims to ban metallic balloons after the party items were blamed for causing nearly 1,000 power outages in 2015, as the San Gabriel Valley Tribune reported, citing a Southern California Edison official. AB 2709 from Assemblyman Bill Quirk of Hayward would prohibit the sale of such balloons after 2018. Ellina Abovian reports for the KTLA 5 News at 6 on May 11, 2016.
