Santa Ana police are searching for the people involved in a carjacking and shooting that left a man hospitalized Monday night.

Officers responded to the 500 block of East Central Avenue after a report that a carjacking had just occurred, Santa Ana Police Department Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.

The unidentified victim was located at the scene with a gunshot wound to his upper body and arm.

He was taken to a nearby hospital and was listed in stable condition, Bertagna said.

The man’s vehicle, a 2004 Ford F-150, had been stolen during the incident and is still missing.

According to the victim, he had picked up a woman in the area of South Bristol Street and Central Avenue, Bertagna said.

The woman apparently asked the man to give her two male friends a ride to another location.

At some point the men carjacked the vehicle from the victim, who was then shot and left in the 500 block of East Central Avenue, Bertagna said.

Investigators did not give a description of the suspects.

The Ford F-0150 they got away in has dark gray stock rims, police said.
