Time Warner Cable Resolves Service Outage, Apologizes

Time Warner Cable has resolved an issue that left some Southern California football fans unable to watch parts of the Super Bowl, according to an emailed statement from the company.

A number of customers took to Twitter to complain that they were unable to view the game on television because of an outage that occurred shortly before halftime.

Time Warner Cable sent out a tweet just after 4:45 p.m. that stated it was investigating the issue.

“LA Customers: We’re investigating an issue w/KTTV (FoxSD) feed. FoxHD appears to be OK. We’re working to resolve ASAP. ^KT,” the tweet read.

Dennis Johnson, a spokesman for the company, later issued an apology on behalf of Time Warner Cable in the emailed statement.

Johnson explained in the email that the technical issue affected those watching the game in standard definition.

He added that the company was unsure how many customers were affected since many watched the Super Bowl on a high definition signal.

The outage appeared to have affected areas in Los Angeles County from Hacienda Heights and Hancock Park to Santa Monica, the Los Angeles Times reported. Parts of Ventura County were also reported to have experienced a signal loss.

Time Warner tweeted shortly before 6:30 p.m. that the company had resolved the issue. Some customers indicated that signals had returned around 6 p.m., according to the Times.
