The immensely popular Twilight Zone Tower of Terror ride at Disney’s California Adventure will close for good on Jan. 2, 2017, the theme park announced Tuesday.

Previously, Disney had only said the ride — which will come back as a “Guardians of the Galaxy”-themed attraction — would close sometime in January, according to a Disney Parks blog post.

But before then, fans will be treated to a “special celebration” of the ride during Halloween Time, as the Anaheim theme park looks to give it a proper send off.

Starting Sept. 9, and running through Oct. 31, guests will be treated to a “Late Check-Out,” where they will experience the ride in total darkness, according to the blog spot.

Commemorative merchandise, performances, and special food and beverage items will also be part of the celebration.

An opening date for the new “Guardians of the Galaxy” attraction has not yet been announced.
