Authorities found the body of a missing person after a boat capsized at Echo Park Lake early Thursday morning, police said.

Rescuers conducted an hourslong search of the lake after the incident was reported at about 3:45 a.m. in the 800 block of Echo Park Avenue, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

Two men were out in the boat overnight when it capsized and sent both of them into the water, Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott said.

One of the men managed to swim to safety, Scott said.

Fire officials said the lake was up to 28 feet deep in some places, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Dive teams from the Los Angeles Police Department and LAFD were in recovery mode, Scott said.

It was unclear how the men gained access to the boat during the overnight hours.

Investigators believe alcohol may have been a factor in the incident.

KTLA's Alberto Mendez contributed to this report.
