SANTA ANA, Calif. (KTLA) — A documented gang member was being sought Friday in a deadly hit and run crash in Santa Ana.

One person was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Santa Ana Friday.

Two cars, an Audi and a Nissan, collided around 11 a.m. near Cabrillo Park Drive and East Fruit Street, according to police.

The Audi was traveling at a high rate of speed when it ran a stop sign at Fruit Street and slammed into the side of the Nissan, witnesses said.

Aerial video from Sky5 showed severe damage to both cars.

Two men riding in the Nissan, both in their 50s, died a short time after the crash, Cpl. Anthony Bertagna of the Santa Ana Police Department said.

The victims, Alejandro Bravo and Jose Castro, were on their way to lunch and to get supplies for a neighborhood party, according to friends.

The driver of the Audi, identified as Jorge Ocampo, got out of his car and tried to open the Nissan’s doors, witnesses said.  When he couldn’t get inside the car, witnesses said he walked away while talking on his cell phone.

Police described Ocampo as a documented gang member who was out on parole.

Anyone with information was urged to call Orange County Crime Stoppers at (855) TIP-OCCS.

A $1,000 reward was also being offered for information leading to an arrest.

Correction: Police initially reported they were looking for two men in connection with the crash.  They later stated that only one person was being sought. The story has been updated to the reflect the change.
