Evacuation orders were lifted in Eagle Rock Saturday afternoon the LAPD’s bomb squad determined eight sticks of dynamite that were found in a home’s garage were in fact props, officials said.

A new homeowner reported finding dynamite in a garage near Windermere Avenue and Hill Drive (map) around 2:37 p.m., Los Angeles Police Department Officer Mike Lopez said.

Eight sticks were located and the bomb squad was called for removal.

The community was not believed to be threatened, but a perimeter was established and locals were evacuated, Lopez said.

The evacuation order was lifted by 4:50 p.m. after the dynamite sticks were determined to be props, Lopez said.
