A former Ontario police officer was arrested after allegedly having an illegal sexual relationship with a 17-year-old female he met while on duty, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said Friday.

The investigation into 30-year-old Tyler Stone began on Nov. 8, 2014, when the Ontario Police Department got a tip that he had engaged in an “inappropriate relationship with a juvenile female,” according to a sheriff’s news release.

Investigators with the Sheriff’s Department learned that Stone met the girl when he was on the job. He later allegedly developed a sexual relationship with the unnamed 17-year-old, the release stated.

The alleged sex acts took place in Ontario and in Rancho Cucamonga, where Stone resides, according to sheriff’s officials.

They did not specify how long the alleged relationship lasted.

Stone resigned from the Police Department on Dec. 22, 2014.

He turned himself in Thursday evening after a warrant was issued for his arrest on charges that included oral copulation of a minor, unlawful sex with a minor and child molestation, the release stated.

Stone was booked at the West Valley Detention Center. He was later released after posting bond.
