A husband, wife and their two children were hospitalized Sunday after a brief pursuit ended in the family’s vehicle crashing and overturning in El Monte, police said.

Officers observed a driver who appeared to be under the influence and attempted a stop him around 1:34 a.m. when the motorist fled, crashing about a minute later near Gilman Road and Kerrwood Place, Baldwin Park Police Department Sgt. Johnny Patino said.

The vehicle overturned, and all four family members inside were hospitalized.
