Firefighters contained a 214-acre brush fire contained in Riverside County on Saturday, authorities said.
The fire was burning at a “rapid rate of speed” in an unincorporated area near Lamb Canyon Road south east of Beaumont, Cal Fire Riverside said.
The blaze was first reported at about 11:30 a.m. and 180 firefighters, three helicopters and 12 fire engines responded to the scene. The response started off 115 firefighters responding to a 15-acre fire, according to the online incident fact sheet.
“The fire is holding within the road structure, and burning on the west side of Lamb Canyon Road,” Cal Fire Riverside said.
Shortly before 2 p.m., fire officials said the fire stopped spreading forward and was holding at 40 acres.
By 3:35 p.m., the fire was 100% contained at 215 acres, according to Cal Fire.
After initially saying the fire was stopped at 40 acres, fire officials later updated the acreage to 214 after getting a handle on the fire.
Video showed helicopters dropping fire retardant across the hillside where scorched vegetation and large flames were visible.
No injuries were reported.
