Relatives of women slain by the alleged Grim Sleeper serial killer want the case to go to trial -- soon. They are expected to urge a Los Angeles County judge Friday to get the trial underway.

The families will cite Marsy’s Law, a victims bill of rights approved by California voters in 2008 that entitles crime victims and their families to a speedy trial, the Associated Press reports. The family will ask the judge to bring Lonnie Franklin Jr., 62, to trial soon. Franklin faces 10 counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.
He has pleaded not guilty.
Franklin was arrested in 2010 on suspicion of being the serial killer dubbed the Grim Sleeper, who preyed on vulnerable girls and women in South Los Angeles for two decades beginning in 1985.
