A homicide investigation is underway after a 27-year-old man was fatally shot at a residence in Rialto late Thursday night.

Police received a shots fired call with a victim down at about 11:15 p.m. in the 100 block of West Cascade Drive, according to a news release from the Rialto Police Department.

Responding officers located a gunshot victim, later identified as 27-year-old Juan Carlos Juarez of Rialto.

Juarez was transported from the scene to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, the news release stated.

Investigators believe three men are connected to the deadly shooting but no further information was released.

There was also no word on what transpired between the victim and the three men prior to the shooting.

An area resident told KTLA earlier that they thought a child was possibly struck during a drive-by shooting, but the Police Department’s news release does not confirm that information.

Any witnesses or members of the public with additional information are urged to contact Lt. James Mills at 909-820-2632.
