A 71-year-old man shot and killed two relatives before fatally shooting himself at an Ontario cemetery on the fourth anniversary of his wife’s death, police said Sunday.
The shooting was reported at Bellevue Memorial Park — located in the 1200 block of West G Street — shortly after 3 p.m. on Sautrday, according to the Ontario Police Department.
The gunman was seated in his car when three of his relatives, including a woman using a walker, exited a separate vehicle and approached a grave site, witnesses told police.
He then got out of the car and opened fire on them, killing 60-year-old Misak Minasyan and 59-year old Hripsime Minasyan, the release stated.
The suspect then turned the gun on himself, firing off a fatal round, according to police. He was later identified by police as Karapet Kalajian.
The woman with the walker was unharmed.
Police said the suspect had trouble dealing with the death of his wife, who passed away on Jan. 3, 2011, following a prolonged battle with cancer. He became estranged from family members for at least a year, the release stated.
The victims, both from North Hollywood, were the deceased wife’s sister and brother-in-law.
