FOREST FALLS, Calif. — More rain was expected Saturday afternoon in parts of Riverside and San Bernardino counties, already hard hit by flooding and mudslides.

Bulldozers worked to clear roads and driveways in Forest Falls after displaced enormous mounds of earth, rocks and debris.

“I saw three cars that were covered up … buried in the mud,” said Clay Herbert, a resident of this mountain community located just outside the San Bernardino National Forest.

Although several houses and vehicles were damaged in mudslide, no injuries were reported.

Flash floods and monsoon rains had pounded the counties of San Bernardino and Riverside for two days before a break in the weather Saturday offered an opportunity to begin the massive cleanup.
