Two men were being sought Saturday after a resident was beaten with a handgun during an early morning home-invasion robbery in the Hollywood Hills West neighborhood of Los Angeles, authorities said.

The incident began shortly after 3:30 a.m. in the 2600 block of Astral Drive, where the unidentified victim was at home with friends, said Officer Drake Madison, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department.

Two intruders, described only as black men in ski masks, entered the residence and pistol-whipped the victim, according to Madison. The attackers then took some unspecified property and fled in a Nissan Maxima, the LAPD said.

The injured person was transported to a hospital for treatment and was expected to recover, police said.

Ski masks and stolen property were inside the Maxima when it was later found in the area of La Castana Drive and Nichols Canyon Road, according to Madison.

The investigation was ongoing.
