Homicide detectives are assisting local police in the investigation of a man shot dead in El Monte, authorities said Sunday.

The fatal shooting happened in an area of the 11100 block of Bonwood Road just before 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The man shot was pronounced dead at the scene.

The El Monte Police Department is investigating the shooting alongside detectives from the Sheriff’s Department.

No other details have been released by authorities.
