Homicide detectives are investigating after a man was found shot dead in Malibu earlier this week, authorities said Thursday.

Miguel Ernesto Guardado Jr., 42, was found in the 25600 block of the Pacific Coast Highway just after 4 p.m. Monday, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. He was pronounced dead at the scene after deputies responded to the scene.

Guardado is believed to be homeless, coroner’s officials said.

The death has been ruled a homicide since coroner’s officials discovered Guardado sustained a gunshot wound to his upper torso, authorities said. The cause of death was determined Thursday.

No information about a suspect or other details have been released as authorities continue to investigate. Officials said it is unclear whether the killing was gang-related.
