Infant, Father Suffer Severe Burn Injuries During Van Nuys Home Fire

A family was hospitalized, including an infant and father who suffered severe burn injuries, after a Van Nuys home caught fire on Sunday, according to Los Angeles Fire Department officials.

Four people were found injured when firefighters responded to a blaze in the 14300 block of Kittridge Street, LAFD tweeted around 10:52 a.m.

A family was transported to a hospital where the infant and father were listed in serious condition after suffering severe burns. The father had lacerations, according to LAFD.

The mother and toddler were listed in fair condition with minor burns.

About 44 firefighters worked 16 minutes to extinguish the blaze, and there was no immediate evidence of functioning smoke alarms, LAFD tweeted.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
