Sheriff’s deputies have recaptured an inmate who escaped in West Hollywood while being transported Friday morning.
The inmate, later identified as Jeremiah Pike, 22, was taken into custody at about 5:30 p.m. in the 6300 block of Glade Avenue in Woodland Hills, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson.
The escape occurred about 6:50 a.m. when an inmate ran away while being loaded onto an LASD bus, a spokesperson confirmed to KTLA.
He then scaled a station fence line, authorities added in a news release.
Sky5 was over the scene as authorities searched for the missing inmate near the Pacific Design Center at 8 a.m.
He was apparently handcuffed when he escaped.
Authorities have not revealed what crime Pike allegedly committed, but jail records show he was arrested on Wednesday and is being held without bail.
