An unknown individual opened fire in the 3700 block of 47th Street East (map) around 12:26 p.m. Thursday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The victim was eating alone at the fast-food restaurant when another man shot him execution style, firing one round into the man’s torso, Los Angeles Times reported.

Fifteen to 20 patrons were inside the restaurant during the incident, some of which told the Times that no confrontational words were exchanged between the two prior to the shooting.

Jovaan Echman, whose father and 13-year-old brother witnessed the incident, said he couldn’t believe a shooting occurred in such a busy location.

“I don’t know how exactly they’re dealing with it, it’s just they’re really traumatized by it. It would traumatize anyone just being in the same area as that,” Echman said of his father and brother.

The motive for the shooting was unknown but did not appear to be random, according to investigators.

Family of 38-year-old Habib Ameer Zekajj, who went under the stage name Bigg Paybacc, told the Antelope Valley Times the rapper was the victim.

Zekajj was from the San Fernando Valley and had recently moved to Palmdale.

One of his videos, “Gangsta Love 2011,” had garnered over 250,000 views on YouTube as of Friday

The coroner’s office was expected to provide the victim’s name later Friday, but in the morning coroner’s officials said only that he was 38 years old.

The McDonald’s, which had been cordoned off overnight with yellow police tape, reopened around 8 a.m. Friday.

A description of the shooter was not made available, but officials said they planned to review surveillance footage.
