A 2-year-old girl from Los Angeles was killed after she ran and fell into the path of a slow-moving SUV at a Fresno County swap meet on Saturday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred just after 9 p.m. at a swap meet in the small town of Riverdale, authorities said. A 1997 Toyota 4-Runner was moving at the speed of 2 to 3 mph as it passed an area belonging to one of the swap meet vendors. As the vehicle passed, the toddler ran and tripped into its path.

The girl suffered severe injuries after her head was struck by the left rear tire of the Toyota, according to the CHP.  She was flown by helicopter to a Fresno medical center for care, but died on the way.

The girl’s name was not immediately available. The CHP identified her as the child of the swap meet vendor occupying the space.
