La Habra police released the identity Saturday of the woman who was a discovered by a passerby in a Regal Cinemas parking lot.

Megan Sterling of Sierra Madre was found around 7:45 a.m. by a man walking his dog.

The dog began barking and walking towards a vehicle, according to Saul Lopez, the dog’s owner. There, Lopez discovered the woman in the front seat of a parked Honda in the 1200 block of West Imperial Highway.

“She was like sleeping but with the eyes and a little bit of the mouth open,” said Lopez, who tried to wake the woman through a partially opened window. “So I waved down the police three times.”

Authorities later determined 35-year-old Sterling was dead, according to the La Habra Police Department.

“We are in the process of contacting her family and trying to locate any friends that may have known her, or what she was doing in La Habra,” said Sgt. Jose Rocha.

Police did not comment on possible trauma to the body and it is unknown how long the car was in the parking lot before Sterling was found.
