Laguna Beach Uber Driver Arrested on Suspicion of Sexual Assault of Passenger

Laguna Beach police arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a passenger during an Uber ride on Saturday.

Officers responded to a call of sexual assault around 2:31 a.m.  The victim told police they had been assaulted by their Uber driver, who fled the scene after the attack, according to the Laguna Beach Police Department.

Detectives worked with Uber personnel to investigate and identify the driver.

Samer Mahran, 22, from Huntington Beach, was identified as the suspect and arrested in connection with the attack a few hours later, police said in a press release.

He was booked at Orange County Jail and his bail was set at $100,000.

The investigation into the crime is ongoing, according to police.
