A 50-year-old woman was arrested Saturday on suspicion of fatally stabbing her live-in boyfriend at their home in Laguna Niguel, authorities said.

Deputies responded about 8:40 p.m. after a caller reported a “man down” on the front lawn of a residence in the 24800 block of La Vida Drive (map), the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

The deputies found the male victim lying in front a neighbor’s home, suffering from a stab wound to the abdomen, the release said. They attempted life-saving measures but were unsuccessful, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from the Orange County Fire Department.

He was later identified by county coroner’s officials as 52-year-old Richard Begley.

An investigation indicated that Begley and his girlfriend, Michelle Green, “were involved in a domestic dispute that led up to the fatal stabbing,” the sheriff’s statement said, adding that detectives have not determined a reason for the dispute or motive for the attack.

Green was arrested on suspicion of murder and booked into the county jail, where she was being held on $1 million bail, the Sheriff’s Department said.

She is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday. Online inmate records listed her occupation as teacher.
