The Los Angeles Police Department bomb squad was called in to investigate a suspicious package reported at Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street – in a busy detail of Hollywood – on Friday afternoon.
Investigators eventually found the item in question was not an explosive, and the area was deemed safe.
The package was called in around 1:10 p.m. Friday outside the Chase Bank.
Part of Sunset Boulevard was shut down as investigators worked the scene, but has since reopened.
LAPD deployed a robot to investigate the package. Witnesses saw the robot conduct a small controlled explosion.
