An 8-year-old was attacked by a neighborhood dog, leaving her with painful wounds on her face, hand and legs, her mother said Monday.

The attack happened May 11 near L and Congress streets as Gabby Jones, a second-grader, was on her way to school, her mother said.

Surveillance video from a neighbor’s home shows Gabby walking on the sidewalk when the dog comes up behind her.

The dog can be seen jumping on Gabby and eventually pulls her to the ground.

Just then, an alert neighbor comes running to help and kicks the dog away, the video shows.

Gabby’s wounds are healing, but her mother said the girl will likely require cosmetic surgery.
