A man suspected in a shooting led authorities on a high-speed chase through parts of Los Angeles Monday before he crashed and was taken into custody.

The chase began around 11:40 a.m. in the area of Western and Vernon avenues.

Information about the shooting was not immediately available.

The suspect, who was driving a silver sedan, eventually led police onto the 405 Freeway where he collided with the center barrier in the northbound lanes near Manchester Avenue and skidded into grass next to the freeway.

At that point he fled on foot and attempted to carjack a pickup truck on the 405 off-ramp at Manchester and La Cienega Boulevard, Los Angeles Police said.

Officers arrived seconds later, tackled the suspect, and took him into custody.

No injuries to other drivers or officers were reported.
