LYNWOOD, Calif. (KTLA) — One carjacking suspect is dead and another is in custody after deputies caught up with them in Lynwood Tuesday.

Authorities say the two suspects held a driver at gunpoint and stole a vehicle at the border of Lynwood and Compton about 2:40 a.m.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputies were able to arrest one of the suspects after a short pursuit.

The second suspect fled the scene forcing officials to close the westbound 105 Freeway at Long Beach Boulevard while they conducted a search.

The search ended around 10 a.m. when officials announced the second gunman had died of an apparent suicide.
