A Yucca Valley man was charged Monday with the alleged sexual assault of a 12-year-old Claremont girl, according to police.

Joseph Chandler Davall, 34, was suspected of entering the girl’s home on March 21 and assaulting her, according to a news release from the Claremont Police Department at the time.

The Los Angeles County crime lab told the department it had identified the alleged perpetrator on Thursday using evidence found at the crime scene, and Duvall was subsequently arrested.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed multiple charge against Davall on Monday, including rape of a child under 14 years old where the suspect is seven years older than the victim, burglary, criminal threats, and rape by force or fear, according to a Claremont Police Department news release.

He was being held at the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles in lieu of $1 million bail, the release stated.

A bail increase of $5 million was sought by the DA’s office.
