An investigation was underway Tuesday into the fatal stabbing of a man in the San Fernando Valley, according to LAPD.
Citizens called 911 at approximately 1:11 a.m. after the injured victim was seen walking in the area of Vanowen Avenue and Woodley Street in Van Nuys, Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Holst said.
Officers responded and discovered the victim bleeding from a single stab wound, according to Holst. He collapsed in front of authorities and was immediately transported to a hospital in Northridge.
The victim underwent surgery but succumbed to his injuries about an hour after the initial call, the sergeant said.
His identity has not been released. Police have described him as possibly being a transient.
There was no information about the attacker, and investigators have not released any details about what led up to the fatal stabbing.
