A man died after being struck Saturday by a Metrolink train in Burbank, authorities said.

The pedestrian, described as being in his 30s, was just north of the downtown Burbank station and Magnolia Boulevard overpass (map) shortly after 4 p.m. when he was hit by a southbound train, according to police.

The Antelope Valley line 268 train, destined for Los Angeles, was stopped due to the collision, Metrolink said on Twitter.

“We are currently working on trying to move the train to a safe place [so] we can detrain you,” the railroad tweeted at a man who said he was onboard. “Buses are already there.”

The cause of the incident was under investigation, but was “not likely a suicide,” said Sgt. Scott Meadows of the Burbank Police Department.
