Homicide detectives are seeking clues in the deadly shooting of a 37-year-old man in Compton early Sunday.

The deadly shooting took place about 12:50 a.m. in the 13000 block of South Cookacre Street, near north of Rosecrans Avenue, Deputy Erin Liu of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Information Bureau said in a written statement.

Jeffrey Phillip Jackson Jr., who was listed in coroner’s records as transient, died in the shooting, Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner Lt. Larry Dietz said.

No details regarding the circumstance of the fatal attack were available Sunday afternoon.
