Man Fatally Shot, Left Lying in Middle of Street in San Bernardino

A search was on Monday for the gunman who fatally shot a man and left him lying in the middle of the street in San Bernardino late Sunday night.

Police were sent to the area of West 20th and North D streets about 10:37 p.m. after someone called 911 to report a shooting, a news release from the San Bernardino Police Department stated.

Officers found the victim, identified as Jose Enrique Ortiz, 19, lying in the middle of a southbound lane on D Street, according to the news release.

Ortiz, who appeared to have multiple gunshot wounds, was pronounced dead at the scene, the Police Department stated.

Witnesses told police the shooter left in a dark-colored vehicle. No further description of the gunman or vehicle was immediately available.
