Man Found Shot to Death on Downey Sidewalk; Shooter Sought

Police were searching for a shooter Monday after a man was gunned down on a sidewalk in Downey overnight.

Police received a 911 call reporting a shooting near Woodruff Avenue and Nance Street (map) at 2:47 a.m., according to a news release from the Downey Police Department.

Responding officers found a man with a gunshot wound lying on the sidewalk, according to the news release.

Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Investigators believe the victim was targeted, but had no suspects at the time, according to the news release.

There was no word on a possible motive for the shooting, which was under investigation.
