Homicide detectives are investigating after a man was found fatally stabbed in an industrial area of El Monte early Wednesday morning, authorities said.
Authorities responded to the 4400 block of Baldwin Avenue at approximately 7:15 a.m. to a report of a suspicious person lying in the street, according to Lt. Brandon Dean of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
They arrived to find a man with several stab wounds to the upper torso, Dean said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. Sky5 footage the body covered in a white sheet on a sidewalk near a warehouse.
Authorities have not yet identified the victim, saying only that he appeared to be 60 years old and possibly a transient.
A weapon has not been recovered.
Investigators are combing the area looking for surveillance video as they attempt to identify a suspect, Dean said. No description of the assailant was immediately available.
The Sheriff’s Department is assisting the El Monte Police Department in the investigation.
