A Los Angeles rapper was killed and two others were injured during a shooting at a pool party in Granada Hills Saturday night, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The incident was reported about 9 p.m. Saturday in the 12400 block of Longacre Avenue officials said.

Justin Lishey, known by stage name Kid Cali, was shot and taken to a hospital where he later died.

Two other men who were also shot drove themselves to hospitals, according to police. Their injuries were not life-threatening, officials said.

The 30-year-old rapper was signed to NFL wide receiver Desean Jackson’s record label, Jaccpot Records. The football player mourned Lishey on Instagram, posting a photo with the caption “I’m at a lost for words.”

Many other celebrities also wrote tributes to Lishey on social media, including Chris Brown, Snoop Dogg, rapper T.I. and former L.A. Laker Matt Barnes.

It is unclear what led to the shooting, but police believe it occurred in the backyard of the residence.

It is also unknown if the victims lived in the home or were party guests.

Police do not have any suspect information except that the shooter was male.

Police said the details of the party were posted on social media and people the homeowners didn’t know started showing up. It grew to a few hundred people, police believe.

Many people who had attended the party left before police arrived and investigators are hoping to speak to them.

“We would like people to cooperate and give a good account of what occurred,” LAPD Sgt. Humberto Najera said.

“I understand that people here are scared, they’re frightened, so it’s natural that they would want to immediately leave.”
