Pacoima Gun Battle Ends in Officer-Involved Shooting

PACOIMA (KTLA) — Police shot and killed an armed man as more than a dozen shots were fired on a busy street in Pacoima on Sunday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police responded to reports of a shooting about noon at a commercial plaza in the 12700 block of Van Nuys Boulevard, according to LAPD Officer Susan Torres, a department spokeswoman.

Employees of a nearby Wells Fargo bank heard the commotion and called the police.

When authorities arrived, they engaged in a gun battle with the man. No officers were hurt.

The man who was reportedly shot in the initial incident was transported to a hospital and was in stable condition, authorities said.

The incident is still under investigation.

Correction: An earlier version of this article reported that the initial shooting happened at a Little Caesars Pizza restaurant. A spokesman with the restaurant chain said there was no gunfire exchanged in the store. The story has been updated to the reflect the change.
