Search Underway for Gunman after Deadly Shooting at Baptism Party

EAST LOS ANGELES, Calif. (KTLA) – A search was underway Sunday, for the gunman who shot and killed a 24-year-old man at a party being held to celebrate a baptism in East Los Angeles.

The shooting unfolded Saturday night around 11 p.m. at a house in the 4200 block of East 1st Street, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

At least 100 people were at the party when a series of fights broke out, the sheriff’s department said.

The victim, whose name was not released, was hit once in the upper body and pronounced dead at a hospital.

No arrests have been made. Investigators asked that anyone with information about the shooting contact the sheriff’s homicide bureau at (323) 890-5500.
