Man Robbed at Knifepoint While Walking Through Plaza Park in Ventura

Police are searching for three people who robbed a man at knifepoint in Plaza Park early Wednesday morning in Ventura.

The victim, identified as 25-year-old George Marin, was walking through the park located at 651 E. Thompson Boulevard (map) at about 1:45 a.m. when he was confronted by three Hispanic men, according to a news release from the Ventura Police Department.

The altercation became physical and one of the men pulled out a knife and attempted to stab Marin, the Police Department stated.

Marin was able to deflect the knife but was cut on his hand.

The other two men began punching and kicking Marin then took his wallet and fled the area, according to the news release.

Marin’s injuries were not considered to be life-threatening but he was taken to a local hospital for medical assistance, the Police Department stated.

He said the suspects were in their late teens and were wearing dark clothing.
